"Son(net) Subterfuge" is an invitation to subvert Shakespeare's sonnets! Interpret/sample/re-mix/re-generate > create. A collaborative project between several institutions: de Waag Society for Old and New Media (Amsterdam,NL), the New School University and New York University (New York, New York), InterCollege (Nicosia, Cyprus), and Sibelius Academy's Center for Music and Technology (Helsinki, Finland) - this effort will consist of exchange amongst artists at each locale and will culminate in a telematic performance at each venue. Subversion can happen as sound, video, or movement pieces, which will then be shared and used as material for a live performance in which the work is projected telematically to either space to allow for a real-time collaboration and thus inviting trans-cultural interpretations of classic literature.

2 april (fri): 20:00 GMT+1 (2:00pm EST)
3 april (sat): 15:00-20:00 (9:00am-2:00pm EST)
9 april (fri): 13:00-23:00 (7:00am-5:00pm EST)
SHOW: 10 april (sat) at 20:30 (2:00pm EST), with setup time and rehearsal time available earlier that day

I. Intro (approx 15 min)
-lights down
-no dancers yet
-fade in images and sound
--sound starts as soft/ambient...builds
--images - slow pace that builds
-transition video

II. Devouring time / frenetic (approx 20 min)
-lights up
-dancers enter
-images and sound gradually become more frenetic
-transition video - blue

III. Do not kill the spirit of love with a perpetual dullness / silence (1 min)
-all stop
-silence for 1 min
-transition video - orange

IV. It was builded far from accident / full on, strong, true love (approx 10 min)
-full on m.f. loud
-think: scream (but not necessarily that action)
-transition video -green

V. Wink with fullness / ridiculous, bizarre, exaggerated (approx 20 min)
-surreal
-think disney/cartoons/the applegates
-transition video - yellow

VI. I sigh the lack of many a thing I sought / slow mo, regret (approx 10 min)
-slooooow motion
-interspersed with flashes of "lucidity"
-transition video - purple

VII. Weeds among weeds, flowers with flowers gathered / wrap it up, exit (approx 15 min)
